The Colors You Gave Me is a body of work that intersects with drawing, painting, and sculpture. It is based upon the collaborative efforts between myself and a friend with synethesia (she perceives color from sound). I give her a song, or even just a collection of sounds, to listen to, and she digitally maps out how the sounds interact with each other as shapes of color. I take this pattern and loosely copy it to a surface and cut my own pattern into it. The result is a sculptural piece utilizing pattern, sound, and color.
